Swansea Vegan Festival is back for 2017!

Join us at the Brangwyn Hall on Saturday 15th July from 10.30am- 5pm for our biggest and best event yet.

We have arranged early access for disabled visitors from 10am providing an opportunity to do some shopping before the crowds arrive.

11am Dr Alpesh Patel, Science Officer for Animal Free Research UK (previously Dr Hadwen Trust): Animal Free Research- The Vision of One R- Introducing Animal Free Research UK (AFRUK) and its mission, ethos and values. Why AFRUK funds the development and application of human models for human diseases. How AFRUK aims to benefit humans through the development of more relevant and reliable science whilst replacing the use of animals and how we meet those objectives through our projects.

12.00pm Rachel Jamison of Cool Beans Vegan Cookery: Cooking Demo- They will be teaching you how to make delicious authentic vegan quiches, making your own spelt pastry. Tasters and recipe sheets will be available

1.00pm Sophia and Becca from local restaurant Bluebell: Cooking Demo- Sophia and Becca will be showing you how to make; Spanakopita parcels,Raw carrot cake mini muffins and Vish Cakes.

2.00pm Veronika Powel, Health Campaigner and Researcher for Viva!: Why Vegan Diets Work/ Why We Thrive on Vegan Diets- With an increasing amount of interest in vegan diets, there’s a fast growing body of research confirming that humans thrive on a vegan diet. This talk explains why and how vegan diets make us healthier and reduce the risks of many diseases. Whether you’re just curious or been vegan for years, this talk is for everyone and gives you a bundle of useful information to take home. The new ‘The Incredible Vegan Health Report’ will be available at this talk.

3.00pm Salena Walker of Plant Based Alchemy: Cooking Demo- dairy free alternative to milk and cheese- You’ll be shown how to make dairy free alternatives to milk and cheese including nut mylk, seed mylk and cream cheeze. 

3.45pm Salena Walker of Plant Based Alchemy: Sustainable Veganism- Highlighting the importance of sustainabilty and an introduction to the One Planet 10 Acre Project

12.00pm Vegan Families meet up- Do you want to share some family friendly recipes? Fancy setting your children up with a vegan pen pal? Or do you just want more children to enjoy vegan jelly and ice cream at your child’s parties? The number of vegan families in the area is growing rapidly and this is a great opportunity to connect with some. All ages very much welcome!

1.00pm Rob Masterson of The Vegan Approach: The 10 Steps of Veganism- Are you thinking about going vegan? Have you tried being vegan before but come across some challenges? Are you a new vegan? If the answer to any of these questions is yes, then this Vegan Approach workshop is for you. The workshop will outline 10 simple steps to start you on your vegan journey including what to buy, where to eat, and how to deal with family and friends. You’ll also be able to get answers to any questions you might have about going vegan.

2.00pm Animal Rights/Activism meet up- An opportunity to discuss ideas and create familiar faces. This will be a safe space to talk, ask questions, and network. The concept of direct action is a scary one for lots of people. If you are interested in animal rights activism, come along and hear about how fulfilling it can be to take action alongside like minded individuals.

3.00pm Vegan Fitness discussion- A panel discussion with four amazing local fitness gurus: yoga instructor Madison Shaddick; Crossfit instructor Owen Pillai; Rikasystemz instructor Stacey-Lee Aviant and Welsh roller derby player and trainer Yaz Lovell. Find out about their vegan journeys and how veganism has impacted on their performances in their fields. You’ll also have the chance to get answers to your health and fitness questions.

    I would love to have a stall at Swansea Vegfest, I am an Arbonne Consultant, we are vegan and have lovely skincare ranges from babies to anti aging and nutrition. I have tried emailing to swanseavegfest.co.uk but it won’t send to ask you if there is a space and the costs. My email is annearbonne@gmail.com / 07969 529929.

    1. Hello Anne. Sorry for the delay in my reply! Our email is swanseavegfest@yahoo.co.uk. I’m not sure if you were after a stall at our Christmas market on the 12th dec, we do have an upcoming event in July but we already have a few skincare stalls that are regulars at our events so won’t be able to offer you a space I’m afraid.       You don’t need to show anything to get into the early access, you can just turn up at 10am. And you can have a plus 1 to go in with you.Just to say, people may be queuing already for regular access so make sure you do come in past them. There’ll be plenty of volunteers around too.
